Great
Bridge Kiwanis Partners With Virginia State Police
by Bob Powers
At the installation of
officers of the Great Bridge Kiwanis Club held on September
30, 2008, Outgoing President Jeff Cavanaugh and Incoming
President Wayne Parrish presented Captain R. Daniel
Plott of the Virginia State Police with a check for
$1,000 to be used in the Bear Program at Children's
Hospital of the Kings Daughters. "Trooper Bears" are carried by State Police troopers and given to children in distress. The
$1,000 will be used to present bears to children on
Valentine's Day who are hospitalized at CHKD. Great
Bridge Kiwanians raise funds throughout the year with
projects such as concession stands at Symphony Under
the Stars, Heritage/Civil War Days, support for HomeArama,
golf tournament and poinsettia sale at Christmas where
100% of the profits go to our children's charities.
